Mariel Reynolds is a versatile performer whose career has spanned decades and disciplines. As a child, Mariel was classically trained as a musician on three different instruments by the time she was 9 and began her aerial career at 7 in her family’s circus, The Reynolds Family Circus.
Her formative college years were spent alternately as a theatre student at St. Louis University and as an expat singing in jazz clubs and studying at Ecole du Cirque Menival in Lyon, France. A few years later she went to circus “grad school” at San Francisco’s Circus Center, where she studied aerial with Helene Turcotte and Elena Panova and Mongolian contortion with Serchmaa Byamba.
Since then, she has been across the country and back, as an aerialist in Circus Flora and the Zoppe Family Circus, featured in a Superbowl commercial with the cast of Glee, on staff at Cirque School LA, as the opening act for Willie Nelson, and performing in Teatro Zinzanni.
